Mountains, Smokey skies, and an adventure to remember! We left on the 11th of August and headed to Kelowna for our sons wedding. Our first main stop was in Banff and although the skies were very smokey and we could not see the mountain tops, this did not deter us from our hiking and site seeing. Our trailer was amazing, pulled like a dream and was oh so comfy to sleep in. After the wedding in Kelowna we headed for China Beach north of Victoria on Vancouver Island (a place we will undoubtedly return to). From there we ventured into Oregon and over to Yellowstone National Park. And all we can say is “Wow!” We ventured over to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore and Crazyhorse. Definitely worth seeing. After 6 weeks and 12,000km we returned home with stories to tell. We love our trailer, everything it had to offer and the simplicity of it all. We cannot wait to do this again. Thank you TearDrop Trailers!!!

Awesome. Glad to hear it. Would love to post some of these pictures on Instagram if its ok with you..... Happy trails...Steve
That would great.
Sounds like a great trip. I love your set-up. Where did you get the tent that attaches to the side of the trailer. Is it easy to setup?
We got our tent from VP of the company in California
https://teardropshop.com/collections/tents-shelters/products/side-mount-screen-room-tent?variant=393474946 Is the link to the company that had them custom made for Little Guy trailers. You need to modify how you attach it to our trailer, because the door is a little smaller. The tent is easy to setup after a couple of try’s. On that website there is a video of the setup and I can show you my modifications if you would like.
Thanks for the info!
I noticed you have a Forester XT. I have an 2018 XT with a 1500 lb towing capacity. I am thinking of getting a 5X8 Diamond in the Rough but I've never towed anything, ever, and I'm worried about how it will handle (without trailer brakes) and how hard it will be on my car. Any issues, especially in those mountains? I am also wondering if you can see behind it without extension mirrors.
We have been to BC and Newfoundland on two different occasion with our teardrop and Forester, probably clocked over 20,000km’s pulling it. I drive in sport mode and use paddle shifters and engine braking going down mountains I try not to abuse engine, transmission and brakes and have no problems at all. I do change my oil more often when we pull the trailer and watch oil temperatures. I just check the brakes, they were not even half worn with almost 60,000 km’s. Forest pulls it very well up and down mountains. Your stopping distances will be a little longer, just need to be aware of keeping your distance from other vehicles, If you want to talk you can call. Thanks Pete, very helpful. I might consider electric brakes, seeing as I'm not very confident using sport mode (I guess that's the same as X mode) and paddle shifters (to be honest, I don't even know what those are!). I travel alone with my husky and wouldn't want to be stuck in the wilderness with a big car problem.
Oh, about mirrors, no need for extension. Pete
Do me favour and call me, it would be easier to explain. (519)282-0838
