I will soon be picking up my Diamond in the Rough Trailer. I have a question regarding the marine battery. Does anyone know the amps on that battery as I am looking to purchase a battery charger. The chargers I see on line are either 5 amps or 10 amps.
Peter
thanks for that input Richard. I am planning on doing something very similar to this.
Or you can go completelly nuts as I did :D and just built everything in. I have pernamently mounted a 5Amp charger/maintainer that powers on when the trailer is connected to shore power (I have inlet on the side of the box).
Also I have a solar charger in parallel and I have mounted a detachable 100W solar panel on top of the box.
Generally speaking the solar power is enough to keeped me topped out. I have a 1000W inverter but never drained more than 300W out of it :D
Thanks for the feed back Doug. I recently purchased a Noco Genius10 Amp battery/trickle charger. Read a lot of good reviews on the product It was a little pricey but I'm hoping the investment pays off.
Good to know....thanks for the feedback
I have a Battery Tender from my motorcycle riding days. I use it on my riding mower during the winter months to maintain the battery in that as well. They are very nice trickle chargers and will only charge when the battery starts to dip. Since my Diamond shares garage space with my mower, I just alternate which one gets the Tender during the winter months to make sure they are both topped off.
don’t worry about the battery amps any good charger such as a 10 amp charger will do the jobs. The amps on the battery have nothing to do with the charge. Even a trickle charger can keep you marine battery in good shape. so keep your battery in good shape and charged. And a couple of days before you go camping place your battery on a charge. Most chargers now have a shut off charger r protection to keep your battery from over charging.
I will go with 10 amps. A good charger will self adjust the current based on battery charge level.
