What is the height of the hitch mount?

    in Frequently Asked Question

My car doesn’t have a hitch but I’m thinking of having one installed for a Teardrop trailer and was wondering which height configuration would work best with the 2” ball.

This is something I am wondering about as well. I have looked at the U-Haul hitch balls and mounts and they have a variety. With the Diamond Deluxe I believe it has 15 inch rims. Is the 2" multi-use ball mount with a 2" drop standard? They even have them with a rise of 2". This is something we need to figure out in the next month or so.

We went with the standard 2" drop and it worked out well. We realized that we needed to get a Dual-Output Vehicle-Side Trailer Wiring Harness Connectors for Select USCAR Vehicles, 7-Pin Trailer Wiring, 4-Pin Trailer Wiring. Initially we only had 4 pin trailer wiring piece but when the trailer was delivered we realized our mistake. We were able to go to U-Haul in North Vancouver and they made the conversion to a dual output system. The 4 pin will work with other trailers (work), but you need the 7 pin for the Teardrop. I am hopeful that our blunder will save others a similar problem down the road.

We also got a hitch lock when we got our trailer hitch installed.

A friend also gifted us a Curt hitch lock, as some hitches had been stolen in our area the past year or so. Similar to this one.

Withe COVID-19 and the wet weather we will wait for the spring before we go out on any adventures with our Teardrop!

    Stay safe everyone! :)
