Special spots in Arizona

Lost Dutchman State Park east of Phoenix. Spectacular scenery and history of the universal (and disappointing search for riches). Great wildflowers. Do not try this in the summer.

Our woody and saguaro cactus with Superstition Mountains in the back.

Chiricahua National Monument, Southeast Arizona.

Last holdout of the Apaches under Geronimo during the Indian Wars in the 1880s. Great, peaceful campsites in a location developed by the CCC in the 1930s. Area is replete with amazing geologic features and wildlife, particularly the elusive Coatimundi which we actually saw on one of our visits.

  • You can watch whales, dolphins and seals, plus the Old Sow Whirlpool offshore.
  • On a site normally reserved for tents only, be we fit just fine! Ocean view!
  • #SibbaldPoint One reason I am a little partial to this camp site is because we have family that lives just down the road. It's about half hour from our house, and it's also the place I suggest when we have customers coming from out of town to pick up their trailer. We are always asked, when I pick up my trailer is there anywhere to camp close by overnight ? Well this is the place. https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/sibbaldpoint It is right on Lake simcoe, sandy beach and a little store that sells hard ice cream after a long day at the beach. They have a boat launch, and a lot of really nice campsites off and on the grid. The only down side is it gets really, really busy on long weekends. If you want to enjoy this place, try to make it an off day when everyone else is at work
