As I reflect on our company’s past and present goals, challenges and creative teardrop trailer builds throughout the years, I must say, I’m pretty impressed with what we have accomplished as a small family business to date. From humble beginnings in the backyard, with no support from any financial institutions and no other building shelter over our heads, except a 10 x 10 tent and a garden shed to build our first prize possession. It is our happy customers that we give this credit to.
It is also throughout these treasured years that we have developed many wonderful and priceless relationships with our “happy camping” patrons across North America, with over 400 teardrop trailer builds under our belt. We started off as a backyard do it yourself, husband and wife hobby couple, to a fulltime production assembly line with a 3000 sq ft shop, equipped with a small staff. We custom build each unit for every single one of our customers, and we build each trailer as if it is our own.
We were able to stay open during this incredibly challenging and gruesomely terrible covid-19 pandemic and keep our staff employed because of our tiny crew of less then 5. We offered curbside delivery, and most importantly we are considered an e commerce business, so we stayed open and continued to build the entire time. We have delivered every trailer and kept our promise to every single customer, because where I come from, that’s what you do.
This year did put us behind schedule a bit, due to Back ordered parts, and time delays, but we were able to slowly catch up with each one. One time during this pandemic, Mandy and I had to travel 2 hours just to pick up our tires, because our supplier’s shipping division was closed.
True, we had some build challenges with our earlier models, but through time we have always been able to continue improving. Our customers gave us insights and never held back on corrective criticism, Which we have always taken with appreciation and used to our benefit in building better and more efficient trailers. If a customer ever had an issue, we have always tried to resolve the matter the best way we could, And continue to do so.
However, there is a small handful of people that seem to think that they can use social media, in a brazen attempt to harm our small family business in exchange for whatever it is they intend to gain. There are even a couple of people that have given reviews that I don’t even know who they are. Competitor? Not sure.
It is these people that I refuse to submit to, and lower my standards of proper and professional conduct towards, for the sake of a 5 star review on google. Sometimes I will admit, I do let my emotions get the better of me when dealing with unreasonable people, And yes I have lost my temper. Not because I don’t care, but because I do care, and have made this business my life. It’s real easy to pick on your favourite hockey team when you’re in the stands, it’s totally different when you’re the one that has to strap on the skates.
If you want a real evaluation of our company, go onto our Instagram page and review the 4000+ pictures and videos of happy and satisfied customers. Go onto our own forum and contact our customers directly.
Here’s just one example for you that I could not believe: Some kid calls me on my phone at 6:30am looking for a mattress, because he bought one of my trailers. Used, from someone else. He called me the day before too. I told him that my hours of operation are 9am to 5pm, and to call back then. ( And yes, I was rude ) He then takes the opportunity to go on google reviews and give my trailer a bad review and proceed to say it is built with poor quality. Needless to say, I didn’t sell him a custom mattress, and to this day I refuse to sell him a mattress. You see, Here’s my problem with google reviews….
People can slander your name and say whatever they want, And if you do not want a bad review, you must be willing to comply to these types of people’s demands. I am not one of those people willing to submit to dishonest reviews. Sure, I will admit, I can be quite blunt, if I feel I’m being spoken to unfairly, or disrespectfully, but in all honesty, who doesn’t react the same way ?
With all this being said, We truly have had an amazing experience with this business, and Google has definitely put us on the top rankings with the name search “Teardrop Trailer”.
The one problem I have, is that anyone can say anything about anybody without having to be held accountable or validated as an honest reviewer. It’s too bad this small group of people can be so annoying, because for the most part, we have really had amazing experiences with most of our customers, and it is our customers that push us to continue building and improving our products.
We put our heart and soul into these trailers. Respect is earned and not deserved in exchange for a good review. We treat everyone with the same respect and expect the same in return. You may be wondering why I am picking such a negative topic. Well, it’s really quite simple. I am truly hurt to the core of my very being, why anyone would give me a negative review, when I try so very hard to make every customer a satisfied and happy consumer. It’s one thing when a company ignores your valid complaints, but it’s something completely different when you respond to a complaint and still receive a negative review.
It’s hard to believe that with so much effort an owner can put into his/her business, that another complete stranger can so easily give a google review with a click of a mouse, and instantly condemn them, compared to the years of blood, sweat and tears that a business owner invested to make a name and reputation for themselves.
So what is My opinion of google reviews ? It’s only as good and as truthful as the people that write them. Check out our website and meet the gang on our forum or check out our Instagram page. I’m sure you will meet a lot of great people with the same goals in mind, with honest opinions. Thanks again to all our customer’s, past and present. Stay safe and happy trails to all…
